The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contactme if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Hook: Size H (Boye)

Yarn: Red Heart 4 ply

Stitches used: ch, sl st, hdc, dc, picot.
Love Knot (ch 1 loosely, sc in the hump on the back of the chain).

Difficulty: EASY/MEDIUM


ROW 1: Ch 50, hdc in 3rd ch from hk and in each ch across.

ROW 2: Hdc in BL of each st across. Ch 2, turn.

ROWS 3-47: Rep Row 2.

ROW 48: Rep Row 2, except do not chain at the end.

Fasten off leaving a 50" yarn tail for sewing.

Once sides are stitched together, turn the tote bag inside out.

1. With Row 1 and Row 48 together, sew the corresponding stitches tog using an overcast stitch.

2. With piece still folded, sew corresponding stitches tog along the row ends to close up one end of the tote.

Fasten Off.

Attach yarn with a sl st in the end of any row on the open end.

RND1: Sc in the end of each row around. (48 sc). Join with sl st in 1st sc made. Ch 5, do not turn.

[Eyelet Rnd]
RND 2: * Sk next st, sc in next st, ch 5. Rep from * around. Join with sl st in 1st sc made.

RND 3: Sl st twice in next ch 5 sp. Ch 6, work picot (working a sc in the 3rd ch from hk) dc in same ch 5 sp. (Dc, picot, dc) in each rem ch 5 sp. Join with sl st in top of 1st dc. (This was the3rd ch of the beg ch 6).

Fasten Off.

DRAWSTRING: Work a string of love knots till the string is desired length. Fasten off. Weave the drawstring in and out of the eyelet row going around the entire purse twice. Join the ends of the drawstring together. Pull on two opposite ends to draw the purse closed.
