Kaleidoscope Afghan Square Crochet Pattern


6" x 6"

 

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
This pattern has been tested.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Hook: Size G

Yarn: 4 ply worsted weight

Stitches used: ch, sc, dc, Cross Stitch, lsc (long single crochet)
MC = Main Color
CC = Contrasting Color

Difficulty: MEDIUM


RND 1: With MC, ch 8, join with a sl st to form ring. Ch 3 (counts as first dc). 19 dc in ring. Join with sl st in top of 1st dc. Ch 3, turn. (20dc)

RND 2: Dc in dc to right of beg ch 3, ch 2. * sk next dc to left of beg ch 3, dc in next dc, dc in dc just skipped <Cross Stitch Made>. Ch 2. Rep from * around. Join with sl st in top of 1st dc. Ch 1, turn.

RND 3: 2 sc in each ch 2 sp and sc in each dc. Join with sl st in top of 1st sc. Ch 3, turn.
(40 sc) [the project is round at this point]

RND 4: (2dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp as beg ch 3 [corner made]. *Dc in each of next 9 sc. (3dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next sc [corner made]. Rep from * twice. Dc in each of last 9 sc. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 3. [the project is now square]

FASTEN OFF.

RND 5: Attach CC with sl st in any corner sp. [* Sc in next 3 dc, lsc at base of next dc. Rep from * twice, sc in next 3 dc. (2sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in corner] Rep from [ to ] around. Join with sl st in 1st sc made. Ch 1, turn.

RND 6: Sc in each sc, being sure to place 3 sc in each corner ch 2 sp.

FASTEN OFF.

RND 7: Reattach MC in center sc on any corner.
[Lsc 2 rows below corner sc (work over both rows of cc).
Sc in next 4 sc, lsc 2 rows below next sc. * sc in next 3 sc, lsc 2 rows below in next sc.
Rep from * twice. Sc in next 4 sc.] Rep from [ to ] around.
Join with sl st in first sc made.

FASTEN OFF.

WEAVE IN ENDS.

NOTE: If your finished square doesn't measure 6" x 6" then you need to adjust your hook size.
