Bonnie's Textured Square Crochet Pattern

NOTE: Pattern is for one square only!
Assembly of squares and
border are your choice.

The following pattern is compliments of Bonnie Harlan.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.

Materials:

A small amount of scrap yarn,
crochet hook size H,
yarn needle,
stitch markers (I use safety pins)

Special Stitches:
BPDC: dc around the post of the next dc from the back
FPDC: dc around the post of the next dc from the front


SQUARE:

Ch 5, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: CH 3 (1st dc), 4 dc in ring, ch 3, [5 dc, ch 3] 3 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch 3.

Rnd 2: sl st in next dc, ch 3 (count as 1st bpdc), fpdc around the post of the next dc, bpdc around the next dc, fpdc around the post of the next dc, *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) all in next ch-3 sp**, fpdc, bpdc, fpdc, bpdc, fpdc*; rep from * to * around ending at **, fpdc, join with sl st to beg ch 3.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, [fpdc, bpdc] 2 times, fpdc, *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) all in next ch 3 sp**, fpdc [bpdc, fpdc] 4 times; rep from * around, ending at **. fpdc, bpdc, fpdc; join with sl st to beg ch 3.

Rnd 4: ch 1, sc in same sp as joining, sc in next 7 dc, *work 5 sc in next ch 3 sp (mark 3rd sc as center of corner grp)**, sc in next 13 dc*, rep from * to * around ending at **, sc in next 5 dc, join with sl st in 1st sc.

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same sp as joining, sc in next 9 sc, 3 sc in next sc (marked st), * sc in next 17 sc, 3 sc in next (marked) sc*, rep from * to * around, sc in next 7 sc, join with sl st in 1st sc, finish off. (Picture of square to follow)
