Basketweave Afghan Square (12") Crochet Pattern

 


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Classic-4ply worsted weight (Tropic Fruit-less than 6oz)
Hook Size H

Stitches: ch, dc, bpdc, fpdc.

BPDC:
Yarn over, insert hook from the back side of the work right to left around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop (3 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (2 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (1 lp on hk)

FPDC:
Yarn over, insert hook from the front side of the work right to left around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop (3 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (2 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (1 lp on hk)

Difficulty:  MEDIUM/DIFFICULT

NOTE: Block square to 12".


R1: Ch50, dc in 4th ch from the hook. Dc in ea rem ch.

R2: Ch3, turn. Dc in next st. Fpdc in next 4sts.
* Bpdc in next 4sts. Fpdc in next 4sts.
Rep from * across to last 2sts. Dc in ea of last 2sts.

R3: Ch3, turn. Dc in next st. Bpdc in next 4sts.
*Fpdc in next 4 sts. Bpdc in next 4sts.
Rep from * across to last 2sts. Dc in ea of last 2 sts.

R4: Rep R3.

R5: Ch3, turn. Dc in next st. Fpdc in next 4sts.
*Bpdc in next 4sts. Fpdc in next 4sts.
Rep from * across to last 2sts.
Dc in last 2sts.

R6: Rep R3.

R7: Rep R3
R8: Rep R5
R9: Rep R3

Rep Rs 7-9 eight more times.

Fasten off.
