Materials

4 oz of 4 ply red yarn
4 oz of 4 ply white yarn
4 oz of 4 ply blue yarn
size 5 aluminum crochet hook

 


Scarf

Row 1: With red yarn chain 28, dc in fourth ch from hook, dc in next ch, (ch 2, skip next 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs) 5 times, ch 2, skip next 2 chs, dc in last ch. Turn. Fasten off.

Row 2: With white yarn join in last st made, ch 2, working over ch-2 throughout, (dc in 2 skipped ch of starting ch, ch 2, skip next 2 sts on last row) 6 times, hdc in last st on last row turn. Fasten off.

Row 3: With blue yarn join in last st made, ch 2, (dc in 2 skipped sts on last row) 6 times, hdc in last st turn. Fasten off.

Next rows: repeat row 3 until scarf measures 50 inches (or preferred length).

Last row: Ch 1, sc in first st, (dc in 2 skipped sts in row before last, sc in next 2 sts on last row) 6 times, sc in last st. Fasten off.

Fringe: Cut 56 8 inch pieces of white yarn, Using 1 piece at a time fold in half; insert hook from back to front through loop on border, pull fold through loop, pull ends through fold, pull tight. Do same for each loop on both short ends of scarf. Trim fringe ends even.

Hat
Ribbing

Rnd 1: With white yarn chain 72, without twisting chain join to first chain, ch 2 dc in each st across, turn.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, *dc front post around next st, dc back post around next st repeat from * around. Join to second chain of chain 2. Turn.

Rnd 3: Ch 2, dc in front post around each front post and dc back post around each back post. Join to second st of chain two.

Repeat rnd 3 until ribbing is 3 inches long.

Body

Rnd 1: Attach red yarn to any stitch, Chain 5 skip next 2 sts. *ch 2, skip next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts repeat from* around ending with ch 2, join to third chain of chain 5, Turn. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: With white yarn join in last st made, ch 2, working over ch-2 throughout, *dc in 2 skipped ch of starting ch, ch 2, skip next 2 sts on last row repeat from^ around hdc in last st on last row turn. Fasten off.

Rnd 3: With blue yarn join in last st made, ch 2, ^dc in 2 skipped sts on last row repeat from* around. hdc in last st turn. Fasten off.

Next rnds: repeat row 3 until hat measures 10 inches (or preferred length).

With 10 inches of white yarn weave trough last row and pull tight and make knot.

Using white yarn and pompom maker make 4 inch pompom and attach to top of hat.
